Creative to the Core workshop

An afternoon of spontaneous creativity

Saturday July 21st from 10 am to 1 pm
$50 per person including materials fee

All sessions begin with guided meditation, which helps us to shake off the dust of our practical, day-to-day mind and clear a space for deeper, free-flowing expressions to emerge. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to make art or move or sing. At Creative to the Core, we are interested in authentic expression. What lies beneath all those layers of conditioning and judgment and logic? Something wondrous.

Once we’ve cleared a space, we begin with an exercise called “grow a drawing”. Using pastels we slowly begin by creating a “seed” of colour. We take a moment to ponder our “seed” and ask inside (we use a process called Focusing), what the seed wants to become. We let our hands, our bodies lead the way. With our minds and hearts, we nurture the images that emerge and grow it to fruition.  Once the drawing is complete we expand on it with written words, movement, sounding or more drawing.
