Private Violin Sessions on Mondays
Leena has extensive experience teaching violin to all ages from complete beginner to advanced.
Sessions at LucSculpture will consist of private lessons, tailored to suit the student’s skill and interest.
Foundations will be taught based on western classical theory, notation & performance, however the student will be encouraged to be creative and explore improvisation and composition. With a foundation in classical technique, various other styles will be introduced such as fiddle/folk, world and pop based on interest. Lessons will be offered every Monday between 5 and 8pm, starting in September.
Class fee:
1/2 hr lesson : $40
3/4 hr lesson : $50
1 hr lesson : $60
About Instructor: Leena Athparia
Besides her practice in Naturopathic Medicine, Leena Athparia is an accomplished violinist who has performed internationally all over Canada & US, India, Japan, Singapore, Mauritius, Europe and beyond. She’s also been featured at concerts at LucSculpture!
Having been exposed to music since her childhood through her musical mother and world-class pianist, Colleen Athparia, music has been essential for creative expression, learning & healing. Her passion for music has fueled her to share the joy of music with others and travel extensively.
Since the age of 6, she studied at the MRC Music Academy in Calgary and graduated with her ARCT in violin in 2001. Her background in Classical music has expanded into many genres including Folk, World Music, and Indian classical music. Leena has performed in chamber ensembles including her family trio along with her mother on piano, and brother on cello. She has also been a member of several orchestras in Canada (Calgary Youth Orchestra, Mount Royal Chamber Strings, University of Calgary Orchestra) as well as the Orchestre Symphonique Universitaire de Grenoble in France. She has recently been featured on TV & webcasts as an active member of ‘Sounds of Isha’ which just released a recent CD of Indian fusion, Alai, which you can listen to here: http://www.ishashoppe.
Currently, she is exploring many aspects of India classical music which has led her to study with some world-class violinists in India this past year.
