2012 s. mccabeToday, artists reenact the distant past using a wide variety of styles and mediums. The class will explore personal ways to integrate texture, line, colour, and composition while expressing emotions and ideas through imagery.

During the Neolithic Era, a universal motif, representing energy & infinity, was carved or scratched into stone across the globe, still discoverable in many places.  The symbol of the spiral was a touchstone to primal reality. This symbol continues to charm and inspire people today.

Participants will create work inspired by a personal interpretation of this symbol revealed in archeology, art history, cultural studies, and mythology. This class is for all levels of artistic development. The only prerequisite is an open mind and a willingness to experiment as we work toward completed paintings.
