Date: Saturday Feb 25, March 24, April 21, May 26 and June 23 from 10 am to 1 pm, starting in February!

Are you an artist painting in acrylic paints, but mystified by acrylic mediums? Do you use acrylic mediums as workhorses, rather than experimenting and playing with the infinite and awesome possibilities they could bring to your artistic practices? In this acrylic workshops, you will learn how to unfold the mysteries and explore the limitless uses and creative technical applications of acrylic mediums with acrylic paints and mixed media in, both, your abstract or representational acrylic artworks.

Part 1 (Feb 25): Acrylic Polymer & Gel Mediums
The Ground (Theme: transparent colour as a base for your paintings).

Part 2 (March 24): Dry Media Ground
The Alchemy of Mixed Media on your Transparent Acrylic Grounds (Theme: understanding the diversity dry media ground can bring to the artist’s arsenal)

Part 3 (April 21): Nepheline Ground, Modeling Paste, Polymer and Gel Acrylic Mediums
(Theme: rediscover Impressionistic Texture with Acrylic Medium) 

Part 4 (May 26): Gel Medium
(Theme: Learn how to create and use acrylic image transfers and acrylic skins) 

Part 5 (June 23): Self-Levelling Gels
(Theme: Faux Encaustic – Create art works that look like encaustic from acrylics!)

Cost: $60 per session + materials* + HST

To reserve your seat in this ancient artistic experience, a 50% deposit is required, with the balance to be paid at the workshop. Alternately, all the cost for workshop may be paid in advance.

*Materials:

  • $10 materials fee for prepared substrates, of canvas, heavy acrylic paper
  • (185lb) and  10” x 10” gesso’d masonite
  • a variety of your own favourite acrylic brushes, palette knives and other
  • painting tools (I will provide some)
  • your favourite dry media tools, such as, oil or soft pastels, charcoal, graphite sticks, watercolour pencils, pencil crayons, Conte, etc. (I will provide some)
  • Tri-Art Non Stick Palette or similar flat plastic palette
  • notebook & pencil for notes and sketches
  • photographs that inspire to use as reference
  • pizza boxes (to carry home wet art work-optional)

*PLEASE NOTE: Tri-Art sponsors all paints and mediums used in this must-do workshop
