Nuit Blanche: Call for partners

Nuit Blanche Danforth for Partners (Host or business owner)

LucSculpture is lobbying for inclusion of the Danforth area in next year’s Nuit Blanche (Saturday, October 1, 2011 7:00 pm to 7:00 am).

Our goal is to have a number of collective art projects exhibited on the Danforth for the Nuit Blanche 2011, and in long run, to have this area become one of the “Exhibition Areas”. Inclusion will allow Danforth area to request funding from the city as well as from Scotiabank for future projects.

As you may know, Nuit Blanche is a free all-night contemporary art event organized by the city and Scotiabank, attracting a million people each year. The city has reported the tourism attendance of Nuit Blanche made $34.7 million last year, impacting on the economy though this event.

We believe that joining this event as a united Danforth area (from Broadview to Coxwell), will direct the flow of visitors into the area with ease.

We are currently gathering the artists who are willing to create projects. What we are hoping from you is participation in Nuit Blanche as a host venue.

As one of the benefits, by becoming a venue, your place of business will be listed on the “Event Guide Listing” (name, address, and phone number), and on their official website (489 character description and photo). See the Nuit Blanche website for more details: http://www.scotiabanknuitblanche.ca/home.shtml

To become a venue, these are the things to consider:
1.    You have to be open 12 hours (from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am)
2.    You and the artists are responsible for the security
3.    Outdoor project must abide the 11:00 pm noise bylaw which stipulates sound levels must not disturb residents.
4.    There is no entrance fee to see the art; this is a free art event.

If you are interested in participating as a venue, please give us the following information, and we will try to match the artists to your location.
1.    Name of your business
2.    Name of the owner
3.    Address, phone, e-mail, website
4.    Description of your business (gallery, restaurant, warehouse etc.)
5.    Is your venue indoors, outdoors or both?
6.    Available space (size, wall space etc)
7.    Equipments that is available for artists to use (sound system, lighting, chairs, tables etc)
8.    Is there any theme in your space/business? (ie: retro, green business etc)
Do you have any preference in type of art project? (installation, performance, regular exhibition, film etc)
