Nuit Blanche 2011: Call for artists

Nuit Blanche 2011: Call for artists
Dear Artists,
Thank you for your responses and interest in the Nuit Blanche Danforth project.
LucSculpture is lobbying our Danforth area in next year’s Nuit Blanche (Saturday, October 1, 2011 7:00 pm to 7:00 am).

Our goal is to have a number of collective art projects exhibited on the Danforth for the Nuit Blanche 2011. This project will need your commitment and responsibility towards both your individual art project and towards creating a strong East Danforth Creative collective

The city will not sponsor or help us on the matter. as all applications submitted to the city from the east end were refused!
Regardless, LucSculpture and many others along the Danforth will open their doors to comtemporary art on October 1st 2012.

Please send us a blurr of what you have in mind and if you can find a location appropriate for the night.

As far as we have discussed if you do not know exactly what your project will be at this time, you can still hand it in with an overview of the project with as much details as possible.
Suggestions:
-Nuit Blanche goes for 12 hrs from sunset to sunrise, and you have to be able to show your project all night long. Consider gathering some other artists and volunteers who can helpto keep your project going whole night by taking turns.
-October can be cold! Consider that an outside venue can be challenging and may need a roof and heating.
-Having your project include interactions with the public would be a great idea to entertain the viewers who visit your site as well as being fun for you!
-There are no sales allowed at events under the umbrella of Nuit Blanche but you can generate interest and personal contacts for sure.

Location: We ask you to check out the stores, public spaces, etc. along the Danforth area (from Broadview to Coxwell), and talk to the owner if it is possible for you to use their space for Nuit Blanche. Note: the store has to stay open the whole night.
If you can’t find the space to do your project, please write us a detailed description of the space you will need (size, technical requirements such as lighting, equipment, etc). We will try to match your project with a venue that can accommodate you. But to be certain that your project will happen, it’s best to find the location yourself.
Submission on paper:
-Send a blurr or detailed description of your project
-Add some pics of your artwork or project, CD’s, or any related materials
-CV or resume
-Attach it together and make sure your name is on all submitted documents
-If you do not have a location, detailed list of what you need

Thank you for your understanding and goodwill.

Please submit to: [email protected]

Peace,
Luc
