Drawing and Sculpting the figure

Get inspiration from drawing a life model and then sculpture with clay the pose and emotion that come though.

On Wednesday evening from November 7 to December 12 from 7 to 10 pm

Cost: $270 (including the model fees +10kg of clay) + tax and firing

In the first two sessions of the life drawing course students will develop an understanding of the various approaches to drawing the figure from life. They will discover how this knowledge may be applied to creating a three-dimensional figure in clay. They will also understand how the information attained would influence their future work.

Using a variety of materials such as graphite pencils, charcoal, and ink. Students will investigate life drawing working with the model, creating small, medium, and large format imagery.

During the final four sessions students will work towards creating two three-dimensional figures in clay using the drawings they have made throughout the classes as the source of information and inspiration.

Result expected:
-Develop technical and conceptual vocabulary of the drawing medium
-Analyze form and use analytical techniques such as gesture, sketch, render, and to compose and produce resolved drawings.
-Make two figure sculptures in clay
-Employ both observational and systematic approaches to making drawing and handing clay
