After School Art Portfolio Class

Friday, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm, age group: 12 to 16 years old

An art portfolio is a studio instruction class designed to improve the student’s technical skills and artistic knowledge. The course will focus on the basics of drawing such as comparative sight training and incorporates the study of perspective, shading, composition and colour theory. Students will learn to render using a variety of media while developing their own personal style. Different approaches to art will be incorporated including representational and expressive art.

All students are welcome, whether a beginner pursuing art as a form of recreation, or as an outlet for self-expression, or for those looking to improve their body of work for art school submission.

All materials are included in the price. Drop in / try out session is $30 (cash). Class space is limited to 12 kids

One-on-one Portfolio Review is available with Kathy at $45 an hour (by booking only)

Kathryn Chelin Bio:

Kathy Chelin has a wealth of experience teaching art in both the Elementary and Secondary panels. For the past 25 years, she has taught enriched classes in Drawing, Painting, Illustration and Sculpture at Unionville High School, the designated School for the Arts in York Region. She also teaches at the Artbarn, the Varley Gallery, the Prosserman JCC as well as the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
