Realistic Portraiture Sculpture Class
Thursdays, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Instructor: Florian Jacot
Working from the life model and using a step by step classical approach students will learn how to sculpt a realistic portrait in clay. The full process of sculpting in water based clay will be covered. Starting from creating a suitable armature structure, to sculpting the model and finally hollowing for drying and firing purposes. This course is suitable for all levels and will accommodate beginners as well as experienced sculptors. While all are welcome to work on a full head study, beginners will have the option to focus initially on parts of the face by sculpting facial features individually, such as nose, mouth, ear, and eye. Great emphasis will be put on proportions, planar structure, anatomy, sculptural esthetic and finishing. All the basic tools and techniques of sculpting in clay will be covered. Many demonstrations by the instructor will be done. This small class structure will offer a lot of one on one attention to students.
