Fibre Art Workshops

Instructor: Afsaneh Vollmer
In this weaving workshop, you will be experimenting with yarns, decorative ribbons, pieces of fabrics and other materials to create beautiful fiber art pieces. The instructor will provide you with supply and show you the techniques of how to create these pieces. This art class will open up your creative energy so you can explore different techniques and advance in the world of fiber art. You will see many examples of these weaving art pieces in the workshop.
Fee: $80 + HST with some fabrics included (bring your own favourite to make more personalized artwork)
Afsaneh Vollmer Bio:
Afsaneh enrolled in the Ecole des Beaux Arts-Sion, Switzerland and continued to study the visual arts at Middlesex County College, New Jersey and the New York Studio School where she obtained a Diploma in Fine Art. She further achieved a degree in Textile and Surface Design from FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in NYC, and a Master of Woven Design from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in Paris. While studying fine art at New York Studio School one of her sculptures was awarded and chosen to be in a photo shoot for Vogue magazine.
She also was among top creative students from FIT to present her design to Bill Blass. Afsaneh has many years of experience as a graphic artist producing wallpaper designs for wall covering printing companies. Meanwhile, she has continued painting with different forms of media, created decorative textiles and incorporated textiles into her paintings as a fusion of both in form of collage. Afsaneh has had various solo and group exhibitions in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.
She is currently an instructor at Academy of Design at RCC Institute of Technology teaching Textiles, Materials-Sustainability and Rendering for the Bachelor of Interior Design program.
